Bunco Night!!

Thursday was Bunco night at my house. I have been playing with this same group of friends for close to 5 years now. We have a lot of fun! Every month someone different hosts at their house and takes care of the dinner and dessert. Some of the fun things we do: annual kids Bunco where all of the kids come and play, couples Bunco by the pool, wear your jammies night (this months theme) and at Christmas we always have a gift exchange and go out to dinner! Keith says it is a competition to see who can have their house looking the best and the most elaborate food! Ha!

Usually we have a delicious home cooked dessert. This time I decided to pull the old "44 and pregnant" trick and bought assorted ice cream bars. Even though I heard a few snide remarks (you know who you are....Tiffany), they sure were wolfing those things down!

I love Bunco night......when it's at someone else's house! ;)

Pretty In Pink! Addi's Nursery....finally!

We finally finished her nursery. Between bedrest, Christmas and just life in general....it has taken us forever. Keith just decided one night that he was going to start painting....well, 6 hours later he was finished with the paint, the furniture was put together and everything was in place. A friend is going to paint some ladybugs and flowers on the wall for me (thanks, Brandi) and we will take the swing down and bring up the glider that my dad bought me with Drew. (I am on the lookout for a ladybug throw pillow..if anyone sees one, please let me know). I just love it. Everytime I go upstairs...I have to make a stop in there and just look around.

Someone pinch me....is this really happening?????!!!

Oh...and that's not Daisy in the crib. That's Oscar...Drew's contribution to Addi's room! :)

Thank you, Beth(s)

My two good friends and neighbors....both named Beth (and both married to Garys) threw me a neighborhood shower today. It was so much fun and I got tons of cute little girlie things. We now have bibs, burp cloths and DIAPERS! Yay! Jackie and I had so much fun bringing everything home and putting it all away (after sorting and touching each little thing). Girl stuff is so much fun! I did have my camera but I was so busy talking and having fun that I didn't take very many pictures. Beth (Silver) was snapping away so I wasn't too concerned! Thank you to everyone who came...I love all of the wonderful gifts. And THANK YOU, Beths....I really appreciate everything you both did!

Happy Birthday, Mama!

Today would have been my mom's 71st birthday! She has been gone for almost 13 years and I don't think any of us have ever really gotten over it. I am so glad that the older kids..Belinda, Todd, Shannon & Jessica knew their "MeMaw" and will always remember her. It just makes me sad for all the little ones who never got to meet her and missed out on knowing her. How she would have loved Holley and Hannah with their little blond hair and cute little faces, Drew with his funny sayings, Taylor with her sweet spirit and Bailey with her cute little ways. We love you and miss you, Mama!!
Girls, please remember to get your mammmograms every single year! It can save your life!
Here is a site that you can go to daily and with just one click...you can help fund mammograms for people who can't afford it. http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=2

Stylin'

Well, my goal for this weekend was to find a "Coming Home" outfit. So while Keith and Drew were at the World of Wheels yesterday, I hit the mall. And I wasn't leaving until I found something. I searched store after store for just the right thing. I finally came across these cute little (I do mean little, I always buy preemie for the trip home) dresses at Dillard's and I thought they might work. When the sales lady informed me that they were 50% off....that swayed me a little more. So I picked out this cute pink smocked dress with a bonnet. I also found these darling booties that matched and also got a hairbow for good measure. Ya never know if it will be a hat day or a bow day! So the girl has 3 bottles, 1 diaper (that came free in the mail), no gowns or sleepers, and no room ready to sleep in...but she will be stylin' on the trip home from the hospital. Don't you agree???

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my niece Jessica today!!

Couple Skating!

I know this picture is blurry but I just had to use it anyway. It says it all. Yesterday we went to Sparkles for Mikah's b-day party. The kids were having a good time skating and the next thing I knew Keith had skates on and was whirling around that ring like a pro. We were cracking up. Within a few minutes, I looked over and saw Jackie putting skates on. The two of them had the best time out there...just like they were teenagers again. I told them I better not see them couple skating!

Here are a few more skating pics:

Big Brother

Today we took Drew to a sibling class at Babies R Us. He loved it and asked if he could go to another one. The lady read them a story, talked to them about what babies can choke on and each child got to decorate a burp cloth for their future sibling. Drew immediately said he was putting a Ferrari on his....and he did. He is so exctied about being a big brother!!!

Whew!!!

Well, today I had another appointment at my "high-risk Dr.". Back in November when I was there last, they found a problem with the baby's right kidney. They told me there was a hole in it and it needed to heal up before she was born. Dr. Potter (he's a hoot) told me not to worry too much that it was just a minor thing. Anyone, that knows me, knows that telling me not to worry is a total waste of breath. I am a worrier!!! Big time! But with the holidays and everything, I tried my best to put it in the back of my mind and not let it get to me too much.

So today when I went for another ultra sound....I got great news (and some slightly not so great news).....the hole had disappeared and everything was fine. Thank Goodness! The not so great part was that my blood pressure has been slightly elevated and they want me to be on bedrest for a while. Now it is nothing like before when I was flat on my back for 23 1/2 hours a day...just lay down whenever possible. I can handle that!

10 more weeks!!! Please hurry baby Addison!

(You should have seen the looks I got when I was taking this picture of the Dr.s door, I mean who (in their right mind) takes a picture of a door??? But I thought it would be a great pic for my Project 365 album).

Barney Fife To The Rescue!!

Last night I was here with 2 kids (Drew and Holley, my niece who is 3). Keith is gone hunting for the weekend. I was up in my scraproom and I thought I heard something (I get a little nervous when Keith is gone). I paused the tv and listened but everything was quiet. I turned the tv back on and went about my business of straightening my scraproom and then it happened. The house alarm went off. I was like a deer in headlights and froze in my tracks.

I ran to my room to grab the phone and pushed talk to dial 911 and the phone was silent!!!! DEAD as a doornail (like I thought I might be in the next few minutes). I was shaking so hard I could hardly breathe. I didn't know what to do so I ran into my scraproom, opened the window and started screaming..."HELP". (Don't laugh). No one responded which somehow I knew that would be the case so I kept trying the phone. After about 5 tries...there was finally a dial tone and I dialed 911. Whenever our alarm has gone off in the past....my alarm company will call, but they didn't tonight, I guess due to a problem with the phone.

I was freaking to the dispatcher. I was not about to go downstairs and the alarm was just blaring the whole time. The kids never moved a muscle, thank goodness.

She said that the alarm company had already called and they were on their way and to call back if I needed to. (in the movies they always make you stay on the phone but she didn't). So I locked the door to my bedroom (the kids had fallen asleep in my bed watching a movie). I then called my sister and she stayed on the phone with me until 2 police cars came tearing dowm my street on 2 wheels (luckily no lights and sirens). I ran down to let them in and they said it was the basement alarm, which is 2 floors below where I was.

They went down and checked and saw nothing out of place....door was locked up tight. The only thing we thought of is our lab, Lily is out in the backyard and maybe she pushed against the door!

OMG!!! I was scared to go to sleep because if that alarm had gone off during the night I might actually have had a heart attack on the spot. But I was afraid not to set the alarm.........

Oh...and there is a lighter side to this.....I was thinking while I was talking to Jackie right before they got here about how I could casually ask them if I could take their picture for a 'project" I am doing. But I decided they wouldn't find the humor in it and I better not.

A Fond Farewell

It almost makes me tear up. In just a few days we are going to be painting over the train mural in Drew's old room (we moved him across the hall about 2 years ago when we remodeled his room). I had it done the summer before he was born and I am really attached to it. It will be bittersweet though, because we will be painting the walls a pale pink to get ready for our new baby girl coming in March. The room will be transformed into a little girl's room overnight with flowers and ladybugs everywhere. I will miss seeing that train on the wall.

Happy 2009!

So we spent our New Year's Eve pretty much how we always do....surrounded by kids. The gang (Keith, Drew and I, Jackie, Greg, Taylor, Hannah and Holley. Oh and Taylor's boyfriend (gasp) Connor.........he's a cutie) all went to O'Charley's for dinner. We had coupons that expired yesterday! Then, Jackie insisted that we did not want to come back to my house at 8:30 with a gang of wild children (boy, was she right). So, we headed to Stars and Strikes where Jackie and I sat on a couch and basically people watched for 2 hours while everyone else entertained themselves. We just kept handing out money and shooing them away.....hee hee. We finally headed back to my house for dessert and horns to welcome in 2009!

I thought this would be a great time to start a new blog. New year, new blog. Also, since I am starting a new project today...I will (hopefully) be taking lots of pics! It is called Project 365. You take a picture every day....just normal things in your life, and put them in an album. The cool part is~I ordered the album today and it is complete with everything you need for the whole year. In case you want to see~here is a peek at it: http://www.kitofthemonth.blogspot.com/ Pretty neat, huh?
