Staycation!!

Since Drew was out of school for "February Break" (what that is...I have no clue) and Keith had Marriott points racked up.....I planned a little "Staycation" for us. I booked a couple nights at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta! The kids were beside themselves with excitement. You would have thought we were going to Hawaii or something. Addi kept asking "Are we at the city yet?" It was a fun little getaway though!

The day we got there...it was 75 degrees in Atlanta so they actually got to swim in the outdoor pool. It had a tunnel that went in to the inside pool. Very cool!

This is how Addi ate her breakfast on Friday morning. Sitting in front of a rainy Atlanta watching from the 39th floor. It was like they were watching a movie. The cars never stopped coming the whole time we were there.
We picked one downtown activity and they chose Imagine It...the Atlanta Children's Museum!
On the way back to our hotel, we stopped in at the Hyatt Regency. I have VERY fond memories of this place because my dad worked there for years when I was growing up. We spent many a New Year's Eve there and they used to put on a heck of a Children's Christmas party. Those parties are etched in my mind forever.
There are 22 floors in the Hyatt, which doesn't seem like a lot now but when we were kids...it was MASSIVE. I was scared of heights (still am) and when we would get on these elevators...I would lay on the floor and cover my eyes. I absolutely hated them. (I didn't love riding it the other day but put on a brave front in front of the kids...lol).

So Papa...this ones for you. I know you have fond memories of this place too. NOT!

We had such a fun little trip. Proves that you really don't need to go too far to have a great time. There's tons of fun in your own backyard!

Date Day!

I got an email from learning Express saying that they were having a Father~Daughter Art Session. Since Keith was out of town for the CFA Date night....I figured he would enjoy taking Addi to this.

So they went and worked on crafts while........
I took Drew for some Mother~Son time at one of his favorite places...Barnes & Noble.

A great way to spend a very FRIGID Saturday in February!

VIP Back Stage Tour

Addi had a lunch meeting with her friend, Gabby at Chick Fil A the other day and while we there we got to take a backstage tour! Gotta love CFA! They do the coolest stuff!

Here are the girls waiting with their backstage tour passes!

They welcomed us with a note in the flour!

This is Brittany. She was so sweet to the girls!

We got to sample the lemonade (and no I didn't ask for some unsweet tea).

They had little stations set up all through the tour!

Brittany again...telling them how they make their milkshakes!

Silly Gabby sampling the new grilled chicken. When asked if she liked it she said "NO"!!

This is Mike that goes to our church. I had no idea he even worked there. We tried to get the secret chicken ingredient out of him to no avail!
They gave them all kinds of goodies. As soon as we got back out to the lobby...Addi's balloon popped with the loudest pop ever. It made everyone jump! She burst into tears! Of course, they took her back to get another one!

Oh, and I can't forget...we got to tour with a celeb. This is Rachel Cathy...Truitt's granddaughter. I wanted to get her autograph but didn't want her to think I was TOTALLY nuts! Ha! Brittany told us they do these tours on random days between 12-1 pm or you can also call and schedule one! Drew wants to go during our February break so we may be going back!

Way Back When-esday!

This picture cracks me up (the cut off head, the hair do, etc). This is the ONLY picture I got of Keith taking Addi to the Daddy/Daughter Date night at Chick Fil A. Since I was gone away on a scrapbook weekend and not her to remind him...of course, he left the camera at home and had to rely on CFA to take a pic. You can read the whole story here!
