The Fair!

We took Drew and Addison to the fair on Tuesday night! It was a perfect "fair" night. The rain we had over the weekend blew in some cooler air (at long last) and we had to pull out the long sleeves and jackets for the chilly night air. I LOVE it!!! Fall is my favorite season....I adore everything about it!It was sooo fun watching Addi see this for the first time. Her eyes were as big as saucers the whole time, taking in all of the lights and sounds. She only rode 2 rides because that is all she was tall enough for....and she loved them. She thought she was something when we strapped her in to those little cars and boats. PREC-IOUS!Me, Drew and Addi!Of course, we went to see the animals.....that is a tradition!I think this is the only reason that Keith goes to the fair....for the corn on the cob! He loves it. I have a picture every year of him chowing down on it.
We had a fun time. As we were pulling out of the parking lot......Drew said "Thanks for taking me to the fair....I will never forget this night". LOL It doesn't take much to keep him entertained.

Way Back When-esday!

This was September 2001.....the last time we took a ONE year old to the fair. Last night we did it again (who woulda thought???). I love the fair! It just takes me back to when I was a little girl and my parents took us every year. It was a given......you just went to the fair! It's just cool to be back to the same fairgrounds (probably the same workers and rides, that's a scary thought) that I went to as a child. This is Drew and Taylor. He was one and she would have been 6, I think!

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Addi had a little lamb.......

and a pig, and a cow and a horse and a chicken too! I took the kiddos to the library this week to a little petting zoo. I knew Addi would love it and Drew was just along for the ride (although he did tell me after the petting zoo and Chick Fil A......"this turned out to be a great day after all").

Her "MO" was to plop herself down in front of each animal. It was so funny. Almost like she was saying....."well, here I am".

Drew and the chicken!

Way Back When-esday!

10 years ago this week our lives changed forever. John Andrew James...aka Drew was born after a very dramatic 30 minutes at the hospital. The drama has not stopped since. Lord...this boy might just be the one that does me in. We do love him dearly though and our lives would not be the same without him.

When The World Stopped Turning

I love the words to this Alan Jackson song. Just makes me want to cry for those poor people and what they went through that September day. I can't believe it has been 9 long years....over 3000 days that those people have gone without their loved ones.
It is a James family tradition (usually minus daddy because it seems like he is either working or hunting this time of year) to make cookies and take them to a local fire or police station to show our support for the heroes that protect us on a daily basis.

Drew loves this and always asks me a few days before if we are going to do it this year. My answer is always yes...it's the least we can do, ya know??? He told me today that he loves this tradition and he hopes his wife will carry it on with his kids one day. I told him that he should do so rather his wife does or not. Such a deep thinker he is!As you can tell, Addi enjoyed herself too. She really didn't know what to think but was more than happy to climb up on the fire truck and even held her arms out for one of the fireman to pick her up into another truck. Hopefully, one day she will be doing the same thing with her kids.

~Well, Amazon is launching a new program called Amazon Mom. You certainly don’t have to be a mom to partipicate in the program, just a caregiver to a small child.
You need to just enroll in the program, and in exchange there are some fantastic perks.
:: Get free Amazon Prime for free (which is AWESOME!)
Prime allows you to get free shipping on any order you place from Amazon directly or fulfilled from Amazon (not 3rd party sellers)- so if you want an item for $1.36 shipping is totally free! You don’t have to hassle with finding items to hit $25.
Your shipping is upgraded to 2 day service and if you happen to need an item overnighted, you just pay $3.99.
::You get special discounts and promotions that are emailed directly from Amazon.
:: You can continue to receive 30% off select diapers and wipes with subscribe and save.
::It is totally free to register.
Not here is the tricky part:
::You get 3 months for free of the Prime service. You need to buy things from the baby store on Amazon in order to extend your Prime membership. If I am understanding this correctly, once you register, you will see a yellow note on various baby items letting you know if they qualify to extend your subscription. Then Amazon will email you at the end of the 3 months letting you know if you purchased enough items to extend your subscription.
SO! All in all I think this is great! If you do not already have subscribe and save I would for sure sign up for Amazon Mom here. There is really nothing to lose as far as I can tell, and Prime is the best thing ever when all the hot holiday deals start rolling out.
If you already have Prime it gets a little trickier. They will give you the option of canceling your Prime and getting a refund on the unused portion of your membership if you paid for the service.
If you did not pay for the service and have Prime for free right now (like I do) then you can either enroll now and this will replace what you have, or you can wait until your prime expires to enroll.
I decided to just enroll. I got the free Prime when I ordered diapers and mine runs through 11/11. I could just wait until November to enroll but there is no guarantee they will still offer all the perks at that time. Plus I am curious about what the special offers will be. I want to be sure to have Prime for holiday shopping and by enrolling- I will for sure have it through 12/7.
You can get all the information about the program here- let me know if you see any other important points that I didn’t address.

Way Back When-esday!

Since we are headed to the DragonCon Parade again this weekend...I decided to post some pics from last year. This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen...but I LOVE it. we have so much fun! This time I am dragging Jackie, Greg and the girls with us!! I can't wait to see their reaction to this bizarre event!
Here are some parade pics...........
And after the parade we walked to Centennial Park to join the football festivities going on there. Fun times! I hope the weather is nice!

Look how much Addison has grown since this time last year!

Drew.....well, just being Drew!

Hmmmm...why does this look familiar??? I have never done this (and either has my friend Michelle, ha!). Grown adults would NEVER do something as silly as run through a revolving door and get yelled at by a big burly security guard at a fancy hotel in Atlanta .
